Key pins

Emporio Rossi sells key pins of the brands Bpw, Saf – Holland and Meritor. The key pins  are mechanical devices that, put into rotation by the brake levers, allow to expand the brake shoes and push the brake shoes in contact with the drum: in this way the vehicle can brake. The key pins are engaged with a rack and pinion system inside the cavity of the brake levers; the brake lever in turn is made to rotate around the axis where the slots are by the brake cylinder, in turn put into action by the compressed air system. Therefore the drum brake system can be seen as a pneumatic-mechanical system, since at the beginning it is the compressed air that actuates the brake lever by means of the cylinder, and this brake lever acts mechanically on the key pin to dilate the shoes.
